“The more ways you have to do the things you know, the freer your choice to turn the impossible into the possible, the difficult into the easy, and the easy into pleasant.” - Moshe Feldenkrais

WHAT IS IT?

The Feldenkrais Method is primarily experiential, grounded in tools of self-awareness and self-discovery through movement. It consists of specific lessons that use touch in combination with slow, gentle movements to awaken the brain and nervous system to new, more fluid ways of moving and thinking. The lessons are simple and all about allowing and exploring rather than doing or making an effort.

Our human brain has the remarkable capacity to organize and form new connections and patterns throughout our lifetime. By moving with awareness and open attention, we can:

  • Increase energy and vitality

  • Keep our minds young and resilient

  • Overcome pain and limitations

  • Begin to reclaim our full self-expression in the world

WHAT TO EXPECT

During the lessons, I will give you both hands-on and verbal instructions for a few extremely subtle and gentle movements. As you practice and pay attention to these easy-to-learn movements, old habits are restructured, giving you new options for sitting, standing and moving more comfortably and easily.

I offer individual Feldenkrais sessions, and also can incorporate these movements into a bodywork session. Contact me to schedule an appointment.

The Feldenkrais Method will help you:

  • Overcome back pain and stiffness

  • Reduce neck and shoulder pain

  • Increase flexibility

  • Move more easily

  • Feel more comfortable

  • Take pleasure in moving your body

ANAT BANIEL, Founder
The Anat Baniel Method

My sessions with Marlena have given me a deep sense of balance and well being. My entire body feels cared for. I feel like hugging myself and Marlena - and I do. At almost 79 years of age, I am grateful to have my body and mind work so well and to be able to walk 10 to 15 miles a week, and at an exhilarating pace.  Hooray for Marlena and Feldenkrais.
